ABSTRACT

At the end of this chapter, you should be able to:

• solve two simultaneous equations graphically • solve a quadratic equation graphically • solve a linear and simultaneous equation simultaneously by graphical means • solve a cubic equation graphically

Linear simultaneous equations in two unknownsmay be solved graphically by

(a) plotting the two straight lines on the same axes, and

(b) noting their point of intersection. The co-ordinates of the point of intersection give the required solution. Here are some worked problems to demonstrate the graphical solution of simultaneous equations.
