ABSTRACT
A quarter of a century ago, two adoption projects were founded to help children who were not then considered for adoption. These children were those with disabilities, children of mixed ethnic origin, part of a brother and sister group or children who were older. Then as now these children were at the bottom of the pile, passed over in favour of the healthy babies and toddlers, for whom there were many more waiting parents than babies or toddlers waiting for them.
