ABSTRACT

Paying attention to sources of income whether from benefits or work is part of your job in addressing issues of social exclusion. For families this can be a complex task, particularly as a consequence of ‘welfare-to-work’ policies and other innovations that make the interrelationship between benefits and employment more problematic. As stated earlier, while you are not expected to have specialist knowledge you should be familiar with the major benefits that impact on parents and their children with access to more detailed information should you need to call on it.
