III, the last of MGM’s compilations of highlights from its musicals, Lena Horne remarks that it was not always so very jolly working on these paeans to happiness. She says it mildly, ironically, in a tone of probable conciliation, but it comes over like a flash of lightning on a sunny summer’s day.
