ABSTRACT
Eritrea is located at the coast of the Red Sea in what is often named the Horn of Africa. The country comprises around 3.5 million people who live on the 12.4 million hectares of land under Eritrean rule. Of this land, at present around 25 per cent is classified as arable but only around 12 per cent of the arable land is actually cultivated.
