ABSTRACT
Moral purposes are at the heart of every teacher’s work. They underpin their sense of commitment to their pupils, which includes but goes beyond the instrumental policy agendas of governments. In this chapter, I will discuss the kinds of care and courage which good teachers demonstrate in their everyday work, and what pupils have to say about their experiences of passionate teaching and its effects upon their learning.
