ABSTRACT

The corrosive law of natural selection, enunciated by Charles Darwin in 1859 and endorsed by Marx, tested rather than weakened the tradition of social experiment now so firmly established. That jungle-law was now challenged by the Anarchists, and it is thanks to them that it did not command as large a measure of agreement as it might well have done.
