ABSTRACT

In several ways, the NQT year begins before the training he Effective Induction of programme is finished. Applications and interviews for jobs can coincide with a long final school placement during the summer term. Most trainees are exhausted at this time. Long teaching days, full class responsibility, sore throats, lack of sleep, final assessment and, as the student group disperses at the end of the training period, the anticipated loss of recently found friends all contribute to an emotionally demanding time.
