ABSTRACT

This is one of the tasks that should take place in the early stages of evaluation. The purpose is to find out what is already known about the evaluated, and to see if or how others have made similar evaluations. In most cases this will take the form of a review of scientific and published literature, and it will also entail finding out if there are any relevant internal documents which have described or reported the evaluated and producing a review of these. This is the time when you want to know what will give you evidence of ‘best practice’ in healthcare. What then is evidence-based healthcare?
