ABSTRACT

The findings from this process evaluation cannot be viewed as representative, but it is likely that the inferences drawn can be generalized to carers outside the centre, because caring is such a common experience. The findings may be of relevance to all other agencies involved in commissioning and providing services for carers and their dependants and suggest that process evaluation can examine a number of important questions such as:

• Which aspects of the service are being successfully implemented? • What factors are facilitating successful implementation? • Which aspects have not yet been successfully realized? • What barriers or problems to service delivery have been identified? • What factors are causing barriers to change? • Is the service acceptable to different stakeholders such as staff, clients, carers,

other agencies?
