ABSTRACT
In general it is a criminal offence to use physical force or to act in a way that leads another person to apprehend the use of force (for example, by raising a fist or issuing a verbal threat), unless the circumstances give rise to a ‘lawful excuse’ or ‘justification for the use of force’.
