11 China's textile and clothing exports in the post Uruguay Round 1

Since the introduction of economic reform in the late 1970s, China's exports of textiles and clothing have grown rapidly. By 1994 China had emerged as the world's largest exporter of clothing and second largest exporter of textiles. This rapid export expansion has been achieved despite the Multi-fibre Arrangement (MFA), which has restricted China's exports.
