ABSTRACT
The aim of the Effective Teachers of Literacy Project was to examine the practices, beliefs and knowledge of a group of teachers identi®ed as effective at teaching literacy and to check these against the practices, beliefs and knowledge of a group of teachers not so identi®ed ± a validation group.
