ABSTRACT
For these reasons, privatisation could never simply result in the removal of large areas of government activity from the domain of ‘public administration’. The process of privatisation, and its aftermath, highlighted the state’s roles as facilitator or enabler, and as regulator. For this reason, the causes, effects and continuing consequences of privatisation remain matters of legitimate concern for students of government, public administration and management.
