ABSTRACT

In this chapter we draw together the strands presented in the previous chapters and set out a vision of what it means for a school to be successful in developing ICT capability. We consider the process of developing ICT capability – not just for pupils, but for teachers, classrooms, subjects, the ICT co-ordinator and senior management. We examine in more detail the role of external agencies, staff development programmes and management procedures in supporting this development. Finally, we suggest general principles which may be drawn from this focus on ICT and applied to other aspects of school improvement.
