ABSTRACT
In this instalment Wittgenstein continues his examination of common misconceptions regarding ostensive definition. He criticizes the idea that grasping what a word means is a matter of having appropriate experiences, notes how philosophers typically respond to this sort of criticism, questions whether names are related in just one way to their bearers, and scrutinizes the philosophical view that ‘this’ is the only genuine name.
