Although South Africa is classified as a developing country, it is atypical in many respects. South Africa has one of the highest per capita incomes in Africa, but globally only Brazil has a higher income inequality coefficient. The infrastructure needs in South Africa are large, and the majority of South Africans have limited or non-existent access to basic infrastructure.
