ABSTRACT
The first member of the nursing research team took up her appointment on 1st July, 1959.The second, a ward sister of the hospital, was not appointed until three months later (owing to the printing strike which delayed advertising the post).This delay had its advantages as it allowed a settling-in period during which the unit itself and personal relations in the hospital were established.
