ABSTRACT

Tom Ericson used to teach at a medium-sized lower secondary school just outside town before getting a job at Serena’s school. He had been happy. Like 80 per cent of teachers around the world he had gone faithfully to school day after day believing that the subjects he taught were important for the future lives of young people and that there was always a way through to at least some of these post-modern kids who seemed to think only of TV, celebrities, the other sex and making money.
