ABSTRACT
George Lansbury was Leader of the Labour Party between 1932 and 1935, a prominent supporter of the women’s suffrage movement, and a lifelong pacifist. Fie is closely associated with the belief that Britain must stand for the moral principle of opposing war but found his views to be anachronistic in the 1930s when European fascism and Hitler posed a threat to both European and world peace.
