ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to enhance understanding of the processes, benefits and challenges involved in ethnographic research by exploring the operational and ethical issues involved in undertaking such research. This will be achieved through discussing and evaluating the experiences of a part-time doctoral researcher who undertook research in a voluntary organization of which she is a member. It is hoped that this chapter will contribute to greater understanding of the reality and challenges involved in conducting research in an organization to which the researcher belongs.
