If inability to complete a task is some measure of its difficulty, then my assignment, to review Accounting and Its Behavioral Implications edited by Bruns and DeCoster, can only be regarded as impossible, 1 Selwyn W. Becker, my colleague at the University of Chicago, helped to write this paper. Some of the paragraphs that follow are his, some are ours and some are mine; where it seems important, I shall try to designate authorship.
