ABSTRACT
This book has introduced concepts, theories and issues raised by the sociology of the environment. It has taken a broad sweep in suggesting that although sociology has been nature-phobic until late, it has much to offer. I have included concepts and theorists from this nature-phobic legacy because I think many established sociological ideas can be modified, shifted and usefully applied in trying to better understand relationships between environments and societies.
