ABSTRACT

In a comparison with 1 m Wenner resistivity, Bevan showed the dynamic range of the EM38 (disallowing a large number of high readings probably due to metal contamination) to be relatively cramped. A range of 8.5-13.5 millisiemens/m (equivalent to 70-120 W-m), considerably less than predicted by theory, coincided with a resistivity range of about 75-260 W-m. This discrepancy could be explained by the argument on p. 36 of this book.
