ABSTRACT

In research the horizon recedes as we advance, and is no nearer at sixty than it was at twenty … Research is always incomplete.

Thinking of a topic

Are you frightened by the word ‘research?’ Some people are. It seems to suggest a region far beyond them, where other-worldly academics try to unravel the mysteries of the universe. Well, a tiny bit of research is like that (and you may have read, or tried to read, as we have, Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time), but most educational research you will be interested in doing is very down to earth and practical. It is concerned with real children and adults, and current concerns and issues.
