ABSTRACT

There are currently more than 400 counselling and psychotherapy approaches in practice (Karasu 1986). The vast range of choice can pose quite a problem for someone contemplating a counselling or psychotherapy training. Some of the newer, alternative therapies may be creative and innovative, but may not have a sound theoretical basis. This may be unimportant to some people, but vitally important to others. In this book I am concentrating on those approaches where theory is relevant.
