Worrall’s answer to the pessimistic induction is a species of the divide et impera strategy defended in Chapter 5, but with some very interesting variations.1
Worrall too tries to identify the parts of past abandoned theories which get retained in theory change, but argues that these parts relate to the mathematical structure of a theory rather than to its theoretical content.
