ABSTRACT
So far we’ve been getting along without recognizing that the word word is used in more than one way. There is a major ambiguity in the term, and we must discuss it. We have to separate out the concepts for which it is a label. Then, to ensure that we can analyse data with precision in the Units that follow, we must introduce technical terms for each of the relevant concepts.
