ABSTRACT
Advice is given here in accordance with generally recognized practice, and especially with the recommendations of the Modern Humanities Research Association Style Book. It should be emphasized, however, that some institutions favour particular conventions. Publishers, for example, often have their own in-house style. Students must ensure that any particular regulations of their own institutions are followed. The advice given here is in default of such regulations being supplied.
