ABSTRACT
It is extremely difficult to gauge precisely how many children miss school on a daily basis. Of those missing school, it is even more difficult to be precise about how many are truants per se. The situation is further complicated by the significant regional, school, age and gender differences that abound throughout the United Kingdom.
