ABSTRACT
The link between the Zionist conquest and the Bible is reflected widely, whether in the propagandistic claim of Ben-Gurion that the Bible is the ‘Jews’ sacrosanct title-deed to Palestine…with a genealogy of 3,500 years’ (1954:100), in the mainstream theology of the Jewish religious establishment, or in much Christian ecclesial and theological opinion. That the Bible provides the title-deed for the establishment of the State of Israel is so pervasive, not only in Christian Zionist and Jewish Zionist circles but even within mainstream Christian Theology and university biblical studies, that the very attempt to raise the issue is sure to elicit opposition.
