ABSTRACT

In 1606 they joined forces with the Accessi to give a series of performances in Milan, but serious disputes between the two capocomici, G. B. Andreini and Pier Maria Cecchini (Fritellino) soon put a stop to further collaboration. They are next heard of in 1608 performing in Mantua for the marriage of Francesco de Gonzaga and Marguerite de Savoie. Virginia also took over the lead role in the Rinuccini-Monteverdi opera Arianna at short notice. The following year, after playing Genoa in June, union with the Accessi was again attempted, this time in Turin, but conflict broke out once more and the companies went their separate ways.
