ABSTRACT
As far as I know all great thinkers concerned with the sense in which we attribute freedom to human beings and whether freedom, in that sense, is possible in a world in which human beings are so much part of nature, of the physical world and its causal order, have tried to make room for the intelligibility of that attribution without at the same time diminishing the force of everything that militates against it.
