ABSTRACT

Some mountains are the dissected remains of blocks caused by faulting. The blocks may be tilted, and may bear the remains of an earlier planation surface.

Oregon-type fault block landscapes

This is the simplest type. It consists of originally flat-lying rocks, which in the type area are lava flows. There the faulting is so recent, the erosional and depositional modification so slight, that the region displays almost block-diagram simplicity.
