ABSTRACT
The mountain ranges of Europe (Figure 4.1) fall into several groups. The mountains of Scandinavia are treated in Chapter 10 with passive margin mountains. The others include the Apennines of Italy, various ranges in Iberia, the European Alps and the Carpathians. In this chapter we also deal with some related mountains of Asia and Africa.
