ABSTRACT
In C hap ter 2 I showed how the properties that societies possess might m ake them objects of knowledge for us. A key step in the developm ent of the argum ent consisted in the dem onstration of the ontological irreducibility o f societies to people. I now want to consider how we can com e to have know ledge of people.
