ABSTRACT

As well as the physical changes that accompany menopause, many women also experience it as a major life transition involving social role changes, such as children leaving home or increased responsibility for older relatives. These changes can sometimes be distressing: not only do they bring uncertainty and possible time pressures, but they may also affect how you think about yourself. You may well fi nd yourself refl ecting on past events and feeling anxious about what the future holds. These feelings are normal and understandable, though, and often accompany transitional life stages.
