ABSTRACT
This chapter argues that Palestinian rabbis had frequent interactions with Bible-reading non-Jews (for example, Christians and Gnostics) and Minim1
(heretics), but that Babylonian rabbis did not.2 This difference is further evidence of the insular nature of rabbis in Babylonia and of rabbis’ greater involvement with non-rabbis in Palestine.
