ABSTRACT
Dr O’Connor discusses the psychology and incidence of spouse killing and the impact of the criminal law on adult killers with particular reference to concepts such as unfitness to plead and diminished responsibility. He also discusses death by suicide after a killing, and current sentencing policy. He reminds us that the criminal law and the work of adult forensic psychiatrists remain unconnected with the needs of child victims of crime.
