ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 went on to discuss theory pertaining specifically to therapeutic groups. Group focal conflict theory was described and a number of other theories were referred to. Evidence was put forward to support the view that therapists can subscribe to the same or to closely related theories, yet practise quite differently. At the end of Chapter 5, four questions about theory and its connections with practice were posed but not discussed. They are reproduced below, as questions 1-4.
