ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the technical and operational details of unguided anti-tank weapons. The types of the unguided anti-tank weapons included in this chapter are FM Model 1968 anti-tank weapon, Thomson-Brandt SARPAC anti-tank weapon, Instalza M-65 anti-tank weapon, RPG-18 anti-tank weapon, Hunting LAW 80 anti-tank weapon and US Army Munitions Command M72A2 anti-tank weapon. Model 68 was an unexceptional anti-tank recoilless gun mounted on a two-wheel trailer for towing, and aimed with the aid of a spotting rifle. SARPAC was designed as a one-shot type, but has since been developed with a launcher able to fire some 20 rounds. M-65 was a typical bazooka weapon, and can fire any of three rocket types with good anti-armour and anti-concrete penetration. LAW 80 was designed to maintain a capability against the latest MBTs, this lightweight shoulder-launched weapon is designed to penetrate 600 mm of armour.
