ABSTRACT

It is generally accepted that among the three major religions which were developed in the middle east there exists an inner connection. Mohammedanism recognizes the holiness of Jesus as does Christianity with respect to Moses and the Prophets. However it is interesting to note that, first, this kind of recognition only seems to be found in an emerging religion towards an established one and not vice versa and, second, the relation breaks down with the establishment of the new religion. Mohammedanism recognises the holiness of Jesus but largely ignores the Great Fathers. The same is true for Christianity regarding Moses and the Prophets where interest in Judaic tradition ends after Jesus. The consequences of these dissociations are obvious. There is hardly any discourse between different religions or even between exponents of different interpretations of the same religion.
