ABSTRACT

The laws of history provide us with the opportunity to construct a new generation of dynamic models and to predict the future of the Dynamic Society. In doing so they open up new intellectual and policy horizons. They allow us to see our own society in the more objective way that we have long been able to see the physical world. But to do so we must rid ourselves of the subjective and selfserving way we see ourselves. In the past our self-deception about our own desires and behaviour has been the greatest obstacle to our understanding of the way our society works. A new objectivity in the social sciences may just enable us to avoid future confusion.
