ABSTRACT

Holy Family School is set in an urban area on the edge of Slough, surrounded by two semi-council estates and a busy main thoroughfare into London. It is a two form entry primary school with 450 children on roll. There is a wide socioeconomic mix of pupils. In 1996 the school had an intake two points below the national average (as determined by the Performance Indicators for Primary Schools). The school has been grant-maintained since 1992 and, subsequently, a Foundation School.
