ABSTRACT
Luddite The term used to describe workers who are obstinately opposed to the introduction of NEW TECHNOLOGY into their workplace. It derives from the activities of British textile workers during the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, supposedly following the example of one Ned Lud, who saw new machinery as a threat to their traditional craft SKILLS and working PRACTICES and opposed its introduction violently.
