ABSTRACT
Kondratieff cycle The term given in ECONOMICS to a phenomenon first noticed by the nineteenth-century Russian economist Nikolai Kondratieff. This was the appearance of long, but regularly occurring, cycles or waves in economic activity that oscillated between boom and RECESSION every fifty years or so. Their existence is a matter of some debate.
