ABSTRACT
Having examined separately anthropology, tourism, tourists, and culture, this chapter brings them together and discusses how an anthropology of tourism has emerged and who the key authors and academics in this field are. The chapter aims to:
• describe the development of the anthropology of tourism; • identify the key scholars who have contributed to the
anthropology of tourism; (and) • differentiate the main approaches to the anthropology of
tourism.
