ABSTRACT

Processes are ordered flows of events. In an organisational context, processes are the way in which work gets done – operational processes – and the way in which work is supported – management processes. A system of processes is all of the ordered flows of events undertaken for a particular activity. The extent of a system of processes is defined by boundary judgement, not by the traditional notion of an organisation’s boundary that separates consumer from worker. The aim of looking through this window is to be systemic with respect to processes – to explore the bounded span of processes.
