ABSTRACT

I have often come across twins with various problems during visits to schools in connection with my work at the Department of Special Education at Stockholm Institute of Education, Sweden. This was the starting point for my interest in acquiring more knowledge by studying a group of parents and their children who are not very common in our society. Having studied twins and their psychosocial situation for a number of years, the question arose: Were there any differences in expecting triplets or being a triplet when compared with twins? Obviously, there must be greater and different risks involved in a triplet pregnancy when compared with a twin pregnancy.
