ABSTRACT
Acid rain is thus a real problem, but its importance has often been exaggerated. It does much less harm in the populous parts of Britain than did the air pollution we formerly suffered. It has, however, been taken up as a cause célèbre by the so-called ‘ecologists’ who were disappointed because their grim prophecies of doom from pollution and starvation have not been fulfilled.
